This iBloc makes it easy to add a block of Lorem Ipsum text to a page. This widget can be used as a placeholder in text-heavy areas of a page for which sample text is not readily available, or where it is important that reviewers not be distracted by readable text. Once added to a page, numerous customizations are possible, including structural attributes (words, sentences or paragraphs), formatting attributes (bulleted list or paragraph), font attributes, line spacing, and text alignment.

Key Features

A Lorem Ipsum widget adds the following capabilities to an iRise simulation:

  • Easy addition of standard "filler" text to your pages
  • Ability to customize the Lorem Ipsum text to meet your preferences and the needs of your simulation

Usage Tips

  • Unless the Expand to fit property is enabled, if more text is generated than will fit within the widget's specified dimensions, the extra text will be clipped when the page is viewed in iRise Reader.
  • To create scrollable text, wrap the Lorem Ipsum widget inside a Section (right-click > Wrap In > Section), making sure Expand to fit is enabled for the Lorem Ipsum widget, and Vertical Scroll is enabled for the Section widget. Also make your Section widget about 20 pixels wider than the Lorem Ipsum widget to
    account for the scroll bar.
  • The Generate, How Many and Bulleted List properties can be combined in different ways to create different effects. For example, to create a bulleted list of ten words, make the following selections:
    • Generate = Words
    • How Many = 10
    • Bulleted list = checked
  • Any text formatting options you choose for the Lorem Ipsum widget will be applied to the entire block of text. If you need to apply different formatting to different segments of text, use a standard Text widget instead. Note that you can copy the Lorem Ipsum text from your browser and paste it into a Text widget if desired.
Basic Usage
  1. Drag a Lorem Ipsum widget to the page.
  2. In the Properties panel, make a selection in the Generate field to determine whether single words, sentences or complete paragraphs will be displayed by the widget.
  3. In the How Many field, specify how many of the item you selected in the Generate field will be displayed.
  4. In the Expand to fit field, specify whether the widget will expand in the browser to accommodate text that overflows the widget's boundaries.
  5. Format the text to meet the needs of your simulation.

Known Limitations
  • The appearance of the Lorem Ipsum widget does not change in Studio. To see the effects of any changes you make to the widget's properties in Studio, launch the page in iRise Reader.
  • For the Font Family property, only fonts that are available in iRise Studio can be selected.
